Lemon Thyme Old Fashioned

Watch the recipe video on Instagram.

It’s getting HOT here in NYC so I wanted to make an old fashioned for National Bourbon Day that incorporates some lighter flavors for summer!

Lemon and thyme fit that bill, and then some! You’re going to love this flavor, I promise.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 oz bourbon or rye

  • 1/2 oz thyme syrup

  • 3 dashes lemon bitters

METHOD:

Add ingredients to a mixing glass with a large ice cube. Stir until chilled.

Strain into a chilled rocks glass over one large ice cube.

Garnish with lemon twist and thyme sprig, and enjoy.

Thyme Syrup:

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 4 thyme sprigs

Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves.

Remove from heat, then add thyme sprigs. Let this sit for around 20 minutes.

Remove thyme sprigs and allow to cool, then transfer into an airtight container.
