Hibiscus Paloma

It’s World Paloma Day! And we’re celebrating with one of my favorite flavors to add to a Paloma — hibiscus!

Did you know that the Paloma is the national drink of Mexico? The classic Paloma couldn’t be simpler to make: tequila, lime juice and grapefruit soda. But if you don’t have grapefruit soda on hand, here’s how I make it!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 oz tequila

  • 2 oz grapefruit juice

  • 1/2 oz lime juice

  • 1/2 oz hibiscus syrup

  • 2 oz soda water

METHOD:

Start by brushing the side of your glass with agave or hibiscus syrup, then sprinkle with salt. I used hibiscus salt for mine. Place glass in the freezer to set.

Add tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice and hibiscus syrup to cocktail shaker. Add ice, then shake until chilled.

Strain into glass filled with ice. Top with soda water, and enjoy!

TIP: for the grapefruit juice, fresh is always best! I made mine at home by blending 1 cup grapefruit and 2 cups water. Strain, and it’s ready to go!
