Move over, Mint Julep! There’s more than one signature drink for the Triple Crown!

The Preakness Stakes runs this Saturday, so we’re celebrating with its official drink— the Black-Eyed Susan! It’s named for the Maryland state flower, and it’s perfectly refreshing for the weekend ahead.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 oz vodka

  • 1 oz bourbon

  • 1 oz peach schnapps

  • 1 oz lemon juice

  • 2 oz orange juice

  • 1/2 oz simple syrup

METHOD:

Add ingredients to a cocktail shaker. Add ice, then shake until chilled.

Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice.

Garnish with an orange wheel and maraschino cherry. I bought a fresh batch of cherries specifically for this cocktail, and of course forgot about them when it came time to record!
