Does anyone else think pears are incredibly underrated? This Pear Elderflower Martini, or a Pear French Martini, is truly the perfect cocktail to give pears a little more love as we start transitioning into fall and cooler weather.
You know when we're in that limbo period after Labor Day where it's technically still summer but we all kind of want it to be fall? I find myself craving chunky sweaters and fall flavors like pumpkin, apple and squash - but temps are still well into the 80s and I'm still sweating here in NYC. I wish I were the kind of girl who could persevere and drink that PSL in early September, but I'm afraid I never will be.
Enter, this delicious Pear Martini. The delicate flavor from the pear nectar pairs incredibly well with the elderflower liqueur. This was my first time combining
the two, and it has quickly become my new favorite. I used gin here, but I'm confident that this would be incredible with your favorite vodka or something like Absolut pear vodka or Grey Goose La Poire.

INGREDIENTS:
Gin: don't get me wrong- I don't have any issue with vodka. But for me, there's just something about gin. The flavor, the botanicals... I think gin can elevate just about every cocktail.
Elderflower liqueur: if there's one thing about me, it's that I'm always going to order the cocktail on the menu that includes elderflower liqueur. I honestly think this is my favorite ingredient on my bar cart.
Pear nectar: alright, technically this is just pear juice. But mine is homemade and it is delicious.
Lemon juice: fresh is best, always. And the brightness of the lemon juice really ties everything together here perfectly.
Simple syrup: because a tiny bit of sweetness never hurt.
Additions & Substitutions:
I always laugh a little to myself when people comment, angrily, on my Instagram - "you lost me at gin". I get it, gin isn't everyone's cup of tea. But 99% of the time, there's a very simple substitution for gin. Simply use your favorite vodka, or in this case a pear vodka to really amp up the flavor.
METHOD:
Start by placing your martini glass in the freezer to chill while you make your drink.
Make your pear nectar by blending 1 cup pear, sliced and chopped, and 1 cup water. Blend until smooth. Double strain, and you're ready to go.
Add gin, pear nectar, elderflower liqueur, lemon juice and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker. Add ice cubes, then shake until chilled.
Strain into your chilled martini glass, and garnish with a pear slice.
