I’ve been wanting to play around with ginger in cocktails for a long time, and St. Paddy’s feels like the perfect time! I love me a green drink, but I figure we need some orange drinks for the holiday too.
This Orange Ginger Margarita is the perfect combo of a little sweet with a little zing!
INGREDIENTS:
2 oz tequila
1 oz orange liqueur
1.5 oz cara cara orange juice, freshly squeezed
1/2 oz lime juice
1 oz ginger syrup
METHOD:
Brush the side of your glass with ginger syrup, then sprinkle with orange zest and salt. Place glass in the freezer to set.
Add tequila, orange liqueur, cara cara orange juice, lime juice and ginger syrup to a cocktail shaker. Add ice, then shake until chilled.
Strain into prepped glass filled with ice. Garnish with a piece of candied ginger, and enjoy!
Ginger Syrup
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
Combine sugar and water in small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
Add ginger and bring to a boil.
Lower heat, then simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Allow to cool completely before straining syrup into an airtight container.
